The Pilates method is a brilliantly constructed system of body conditioning that utilizes and challenges the body’s full range of motion. Performed as a full system of mat and apparatus exercises or on the mat alone, the method is deep in its syllabus progressing from beginner to super advanced levels.
Pilates is safe and effective for all populations from the deconditioned; those in post- rehab from an injury or with physical limitations; the weekend warrior and all the way to the top of the line athlete. (A large number of professional sports teams employ a certified Pilates instructor.) Correct and vigorous Pilates practice can lead to astonishing results in a short period of time.
Absolute Pilates offers private equipment-based sessions in a sunny, serene room furnished with a Reformer, a Cadillac wall unit and a Wunda chair. A separate mat room for group classes features mirrors, a sprung floor and Pilates props like big and small balls, therabands, magic circles and foam rollers.
Absolute Pilates is conveniently located in South Burlington between Williston Road and Kimball Avenue and tucked into the Espire Personal Training Studio-- a lovely, light and plant filled space fully equipped with cardio and strength training equipment.
Lynne Martens is certified by the Pilates Studio NYC, the premier certification center for Classical Pilates. She was trained by Romana Kryzanowska (who was trained by Joseph Pilates himself) and Bob Liekens, master teacher of teachers throughout the world. Lynne was a professional dancer and dance teacher for 20 years before becoming a full time Pilates instructor in 2000. She is an enthusiastic proponent of the Pilates Method and has witnessed many success stories: sore backs healed; tight muscles relaxed; weak muscles strengthened; body imbalances corrected and loose muscles toned.
If you don’t know anything about Pilates and want to try it out, call Lynne to schedule a private ½ hour intro on the equipment or the mat. Group mat classes require a sign up the day before and private sessions are by appointment.
